October 31                Halloween. No classes.
November 7-11          Peek Week* - tuition and costume deposits are due.
November 21-25        Thanksgiving Week. No classes.
December 26-Jan 2   Winter Break. No classes.
January 23-27            Peek Week* - tuition and costume balances are due.
February 20-24          No classes.
April 2-6                     Peek Week* - final tuition due.
April 16-20                 No classes.
June 15-16                Dress Rehearsal/Recital.

* Peek Week - Relatives and friends are invited to observe classes.

Snow Days

Snow days may not follow school cancellations. Please call (781) DANCE38 after 2:00 p.m. on snowy days for a recorded message.

Prizes and Awards

Awards are presented to students with perfect attendance, to those completing five and ten years of study, and to graduating high school seniors. The Elaine Richardson Prize for dedication to dance, a positive attitude, and a helpful spirit; and the Sandra Philpott Prize in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, are also awarded annually.

Special Activities

Throughout the year Hazel Boone students are invited to attend master classes, workshops, and special dance performances. To further their dance education, Holly invites dancers ages 8-18 to participate in a dance clinic and performance at Mohegan Sun in July.

Dress Code

Hazel Boone students observe a dress code which fosters group identity and allows instructors to evaluate and correct student alignment and position.

For all classes, hair must be worn up. Buns are recommended.

Preschool (ages 3 and 4): Red leotard, red tights or white socks, white ballet shoes (white Capezio Daisy or white Bloch #200 or #205).

KinderBallet: Lavender leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet shoes (pink Bloch #205 or #258).

Pearl and Opal Levels: Black leotard, pink tights. Ballet: pink splitsole ballet shoes (Bloch #258). Tap: white tap shoes with buckle or elastic (Bloch #352 or Capezio #625). No skirts.

Amethyst, Emerald, Sapphire, Tanzanite and Ruby Levels: Any solid color leotard, pink or tan tights. Ballet: pink splitsole leather or canvas ballet shoes (Bloch #203, #277 or similar). Optional: short ballet skirt. Tap: Tan buckle tap shoes (Bloch #302; optional Bloch #323 for teens). Jazz: Tan split-sole pull-on jazz shoes(Bloch #495, #401 or similar). Optional black fitted shorts or capris for Tap and Jazz.

Diamond Level: Any solid color leotard, pink or tan tights. Ballet: pink split-sole leather or canvas ballet shoes (Bloch #203, #277 or similar). Tap: black pull-on tap shoes with no laces (Bloch #389 or similar). Jazz: tan split-sole pull-on jazz shoes (Bloch #495, #401 or similar). Optional black fitted shorts or capris.

Hip Hop: No dress code. Black split-sole dance sneakers.

Boys (all classes): Black ballet, tap, or jazz shoes; black pants or shorts with white or black tee/tank.

Adults (all classes): No dress code. Please wear appropriate dance shoes.
